UPDATE on the Do Not Drink/Do Not Use Notice
The Division of Drinking Water (Division) is aware of the wildfire that burned through the Juniper Riviera CWD water system service boundary. They are understanding of the extreme hardship this emergency is causing and encourage everyone to be vigilant of their surroundings and be aware of their safety and well-being. If you require assistance during the emergency, the Division may be able to help coordinate requests for support.
To ensure the safety of the public water supply following the wildfire and to comply with newly enacted requirements listed in section 116596 of the California Health and Safety Code, the Division is issuing the attached Order No. DW 2025-FRE1-DDW. To protect public health during the emergency and throughout recovery, the Order required Juniper Riviera CWD to make a quick assessment of our water system to determine the risk of potential contamination. Based on the risk assessment, Juniper Riviera CWD needed to issue a Tier 1 notice and conduct benzene sampling. Unfortunately, Juniper Riviera's water system did have damaged or destroyed structures within our service area. Discussions with state representatives determined the following steps:

Seven water samples were taken to the lab on Friday, June 13th, with those results showing no contamination of Coliform Bacteria TC. Additional water samples were taken yesterday, Sunday, June 15th, specifically to test for VOC and Benzene. A rush is being requested for these samples, with those results expected to become available in a few days. The second set of seven water samples is being taken today, Monday, June 16th. The results of the seven samples will be announced tomorrow, Tuesday, June 17th.
If all of these water samples test absent or Not Detected, the Notice should be lifted by our Water Regulators in the next couple days.
